Cross Country

Nervously waiting on the cold hard concrete, I challenged myself to beat my mates at today's cross country. The weather was freezing, windy and also spitting, but I still sprinted to the finish line. When I had finished the race I felt proud of myself, but maybe I could do better next time.

Ferdinand Magellan story

Ferdinand Magellan was born in 1480 in Portugal. The Government of Portugal disagreed with Magellan so he went and asked the king of Spain that if he could have a boat and money like Columbus, as he was going to circumnavigate the world to get to India. Magellan's boat was called Victoria because it meant victory. By 1494 the Spanish couldn't sail past Africa because the route was owned by Portugal. Magellan sailed west through the Atlantic ocean and into the strait of Magellan to discover the Pacific ocean. Magellan's crew circumnavigated the world but tragically he never made it past the Philllipines, as it was here that he was killed in a battle.

Christopher Columbus

In the 1400s Christopher Columbus sailed west to get to India. Columbus asked the King of Spain for money and a boat to traveled around the world to India . He called the people Indians because he thought he had reached India but he had actually discovered the Americas.
Christopher Columbus wasn't the first person to discover south America. He was the only man to sail the Atlantic ocean to south America and to return back to Europe. People now knew that there were two more continents; North and South America. It wasn't till the 1700s that the Europeans discovered the pacific ocean.

Mt East Destroys the Village - July

What I enjoyed about our volcano movie. It was fun making the movie in a group and getting sticky hands from the dough. We could have done our voice over better so it makes more sense. We could work on our paragrahs so the audience. The part we did really well was we cut out the right pieces of the movie and putting the voice over in the right place where the parts are showing. What I learnt from doing this was I found information about volcanoes can do to the land and how people die from volcanoes. I would change the paragrahs and sentences to make sense. Then make the movie and voice over more interesting.

When I watched my group volcano movie I felt amazing but the part I really like was the
explosions. It was fun. The group movie needed to get better by using more detail. The part that the group mostly did well was the voice over. It was fantastic and good. I learnt to make a volcano erupt. What would I change for next time is my green screen. It was very frustrating as we couldn't make it work all the time.
Jesiah

I enjoy doing our volcano movie because we had help from Miss King doing our volcano movie.
We could have done better by making the volcano look more realistic. One part that we really liked was making our volcano erupt.I learned about helping my group and making movies.
What I will change for next time is to help my group creating our proups and acting more in our voice over.

Rainy Day - June 3 2010

Pressure - April 22 2010

On Monday afternoon Miss King handed out balloons so we could learn about pressure When we blew up our balloon we were puffing and straining. Then we blew it bigger and bigger and we let it go and it made a squeaking sound.
Inside a balloon the air builds pressure just like the magma in a volcano. But when the pressure rises to be released. Magma, gas, smoke and ash come out of the vent and out the crater.

Favourite thing at Camp - March 23 2010

Pulling hard and strong I struggled to put my hand on the hand hold. It was scary until I made it to the top. When I come down I went on the small rocks. When Kayde and I climbed up we fell down. It was hard but we tried and then we made it. I want to stay here because it was cool, but it was time to go
