I’m going to teach you a magical mind trick.When solving equations with multiple operations it is important to remember BEDMAS. For example: Think of a number Add 3 then Multiply by 2 take away 5. We need to write it like this, 2(n + 3)-5=y.n is the unknown number y is the result of the calculations.To solve for n n=y-1/2

To find n we need to know y. We subtract 7 from y.

The reason we subtract 1 is because we have multiplied 3 by 2 to make 6, and need to find the difference between the extra that was never multiplied (5) the difference is 1.
